From Hart Crane’s “To Brooklyn Bridge”:

I think of cinemas, panoramic sleights
With multitudes bent toward some flashing scene
Never disclosed, but hastened to again,
Foretold to other eyes on the same screen;

This is the class blog for COM111: Elements of Screen Art, an introductory cinema studies course. Students are required to write blog entries of at least 500 words for each of the films screened in class and are highly encouraged to comment on each other’s entries.

The blog title is taken from a line of dialogue in Michelangelo Antonioni‘s Blow-Up (1966), the film I used to open the course: “Nothing like a little disaster for sorting things out.” You might say this blog is where my students try to “sort things out.”
